Let Husk Homestead, located in Lansing, North Carolina, serve as your home base in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, where the ultimate relaxing getaway awaits you, your family and friends. Enjoy the charm of this 19th century antique log cabin while taking a step back in time, but with all the modern conveniences you'll need to feel pampered.
Free the explorer inside of you while traversing rivers, hiking the Appalachian Trail, cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway, or perusing art galleries, shops and restaurants nearby. Whether you dive into local Civil War history, lose yourself in the rhythms of live bluegrass music or take advantage of Husk's third-floor Attic Getaway, the magic of the mountains is sure to revive your spirit.
Husk Homestead is just a short walk from town. From the hand-hewn logs to the antique claw-foot tub, and the updated kitchen to the satellite TV, you can get away, but stay in touch, all in total comfort.
Husk Homestead was built in the hills of northern Ashe County, North Carolina, where Civil War history, beautiful country and southern hospitality abound. The cabin was originally located in the Husk-Nella community along the former Virginia Creeper Railroad line, just a short distance from its current location, above Big Horse Creek. In the 1970s, the house was moved log by log to where it now stands in Lansing.
The cabin retains its own charm, most evident in the living room where you'll find a stone hearth made from the cabin's original chimney. A wood stove has been added for that authentic warmth on cool mountain evenings and the roof is red tin, which plays its own song in wet weather.
Take in the lovely mountain views while relaxing on the wraparound porch in the swing, hammock, or one of the rocking chairs. You may be lucky enough to spot house wrens, deer, hummingbirds or rabbits. Your own four-legged friends are welcome and we even have a fenced in yard for them to play. If you're in the mood to cook inside, you'll find everything you need in our modern kitchen, including a dishwasher, microwave, cookware, dishes and utensils. Outside, you can try your hand at the gas grill, perfect for cooking all those fish you caught in the stream that runs through Lansing, or in the South Fork of the New River.
